TV Debate Accelerates the Democrats' Recent Gains

An analysis of more than one million Web pages complements opinion polls and reflects the impact of last week's debate between George W. Bush and John Kerry, with both parties profiting. For the Democrats, the event marks a turning point and moves them into positive territory. Kerry's performance accelerated recent gains in media attitude. Bush reversed a negative trend that had started about a week ago. Media attention barely changed, with about six out of ten references related to the current administration.
