Presidential bid dropped in January 2008. Current Governor of New Mexico, Richardson has previously served as a U.S. Representative, United Nations Ambassador, and as the U.S. Secretary of Energy. Richardson has been criticized for promoting clean coal, but has aggressively pushed renewable energy as governor of New Mexico and calls for reducing U.S. oil demand by 50 percent until 2020.
