Acronym:
AMCIS-2008 Minitrack

The mini-track focuses on innovative design and use of Decision Support Systems (DSS), and their application to the environmental domain. The urgency and scope of environmental problems call for both immediate action and sustainable long-term strategies. Consequently, decision-makers need to reexamine their knowledge assets and identify new methods to exploit them more effectively. The fields of environmental communication, ecosystem monitoring and environmental resource management are constantly developing such methods.

The track brings together researchers interested in exploring new and innovative applications of DSS technology and their application to the environmental domain. Environmental DSS pose unique challenges from both technical and organizational perspectives. In terms of underlying technology, one can distinguish knowledge-driven, data-driven, model-driven, and geographically-driven approaches. This mini-track aims to provide an integrative view on these disciplines and technologies, and to align academic research on DSS technology with industry practice.

The mini-track welcomes both research articles and practitioner reports, and particularly encourages the submission of theoretically founded papers that illustrate the application of DSS technology to environmental problems. The mini-track is receptive to all types of research methodologies, with a particular interest in design science research.
