Newsletter #13 - Sunday, December 18, 2005

Dear Colleague,

The EnviroInfo-2006 online submission system is now available via the 'Author Guidelines' section of www.enviroinfo.net (see the call for papers in the last edition of this newsletter). Please note that the submission deadline is only two months away.

The logistics of conferences such as EnviroInfo cause significant CO2 emissions. While reducing these emissions is a major concern, supporting reforestation projects as a complementary strategy can offset those emissions that inevitably occur. A joint initiative with the Tropical Station La Gamba (www.lagamba.at), which is establishing biological corridors in Costa Rica's Piedras Blancas National Park, aims to evaluate and test mechanisms that improve the carbon balance of large events such as corporate meetings and international conferences.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have implemented similar schemes in the past, or if you are planning events that might benefit from a 'carbon-neutral' option.

Kind regards,
K. Tochtermann and A. Scharl
(Conference Chairs)
