Chapter 4: Web Coverage of Renewable Energy

This project applies an automated Web assessment and media monitoring methodology, providing empirical Web data by automatically mirroring and processing large samples of Web information systems. 50 international media sites have been monitored in monthly intervals. The wealth of information contained in these sites was converted into aggregated representations through structural and textual analysis.
This process yielded detailed profiles for each site and roughly one billion words of textual raw data. The resulting indicators describe complex relationships and developments in the Web coverage of renewable energy that can hardly be captured and analyzed in traditional ways. On the basis of lexical tables, a correspondence analysis was conducted to visualize these relationships and developments.
