Some of the environmental projects presented on this Web site collect information for research purposes, and for improving information services. The collected information is treated confidentially and never shared with any third party not participating in these research projects.

  • Environmental Knowledge Repositories. Our two publicly accessible visual analytics platforms, the Media Watch on Climate Change and the UN Environment Web Intelligence platform, are fully compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). They only capture and process public content (i.e., Web pages and postings “manifestly made public” according to GDRP Article 9), using a Web crawler and the Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) of social media platforms – strictly adhering to these platform’s usage restrictions and only accessing the public portion of the content. For Web sites, the data collection process respects the site owner’s robots.txt settings (a text file in the top directory used by site administrators to control file and directory access).
  • Cookies and Google Analytics. This site uses cookies – small text files that are placed on your machine to help www.ecoresearch.net provide a better user experience. Google Analytics uses cookies to track the popularity of specific pages. IP anonymization techniques and a cookie notification plugin make sure that personal data is never used without consent. As of April 2018, the ECOresearch Network has also accepted Google’s GDPR Data Processing Amendment. If you would nevertheless like to disable cookies on this site and on others, you can change your browser settings accordingly or use a plugin to specifically deactivate Google Analytics functions.
